Affectionately known by all who know him as "Griz", Chris Grunwald is a Philadelphia born artist who has been performing professionally for more than a decade. Constantly adding to his creative resume, he continues to explore different musical avenues both as a solo performer and with several Philly based bands (Hunter's Cannon, Cowmuddy, Ryan Tennis, Hezekiah Jones and others). In his solo career, Chris is widely regarded as a seasoned expert with his voice and guitar work.
After several years of performances dedicated to his many other musical endevours, Chris is finally back in the studio with Andrew Lipke recording his second full length solo album (to be released in the fall of 2010).
Through years of top notch performances and from the release of his first original cd, Plant Life, Chris has garnered much respect as one of Philadelphia's best musicians with a steady and loyal fan base. Chris is also part of the Philadelphia musicians collective known as the Philly Folk Parade.
Chris currently lives the good life In Paoli, PA with his wife and three kids. Be sure to check out a show and see for yourself why Chris is not your typical guy with a guitar. He is everywhere. He is probably at your breakfast table right now eating a scone.

Griz Band is the fleshed out manifestation of Chris Grunwald's songwriting. Accompanied by a rotating cast of accomplished musicans, Griz Band brings to life the rock and roll sounds that Chris hears in his head (along with the voices). The Griz Band enjoys a fun loving fan base that can often be heard singing along to songs from the full length cd, Plant Life, as well as newer tunes not yet released. Several of Chris's contributions to the StillWillis repertoire are also performed at a typical Griz Band show.
The Griz Band also does shows featuring the music of other popular artists from the rock, folk, punk, reggae and indie genres. The fine mix of covers and originals makes sure that the dedicated fans and the newcomers all hear something they enjoy. Check out a show for yourself.
Griz's Soul Shakedown Party

Griz's Soul Shakedown Party is a collection of Philadelphia's favorite musicians honoring the music of Bob Marley and other great Reggae artists.
Musicians who have played in this island super group include Rick Reinhart and James Faber of The Midnight Drifters, Mike Caroto and Dean Gorfti formerly of StillWillis, Adam Flicker formerly of The Brakes, Steve Ciannevei of The Griz Band, and drummers Freddie Berman and Ras Michael who both have played in innumerable Philly projects.
An evening with The Soul Shakedown Party features accurate energetic renditions of much of Bob Marley's catalog of inspiring tunes as well as other reggae favorites such as Toots and The Maytals, Sublime, The Police, Peter Tosh and The Specials. Expect some surprising reggae versions of popular tunes from other genres of music along with some of Chris's original songs as well.
The Soul Shakedown Party is guaranteed to get the audience dancing at neighborhood bars, big clubs, outdoor events and private parties.
